An easy to grow necessity for Monarch Butterflies. It's best to plant in patches instead of scattering.

Easy to grow indoors or out, Showy Milkweed prefers dry to moist well drained soil. Rocky and sandy is great for Showy Milkweed. Full sun and does not tolerate shade much. Can lean over, this isn't a problem for the plant, but staking or sturdy shrubs will remedy this.

Seasonality: July-August 

Germination: 90 day cold-moist stratification in a single paper towel or in small bag of perlite. If they begin to germinate early, then pull the bag and plant in a tray or desired location. Milkweed plants are best potted until they have a few sets of leaves unless you are planting many and can sacrifice some to predators.
