An easy to grow necessity for Monarch Butterflies. It's best to plant in two to three patches instead of scattering or broadcasting around. 

Easy to grow indoors or out, Showy Milkweed prefers dry to moist well drained soil. Rocky and sandy is great for Showy Milkweed. Full sun and does not tolerate shade much. 

Showy Milkweed tends to lean over, this isn't a problem for the plant, but staking can remedy this.

Seasonality: June-August 

Germination: 60-90 day cold-moist stratification then plant in pots then into desired location. Some seed does not need this and germinates readily.
