Hairy Clematis aka Sugarbowls are a unique and whimsical wildflower of The West. The large, bell-shaped flowers are formed with a single flower per stem, which in favorable conditions, each plant can produce well over a couple dozen stems.
It's found in dry areas, where some moisture tends to be more present from creeks, rivers or wet meadows or in a woodland setting using other plants for shelter and support, such as snowberry, quaking aspen, pines and sagebrush.
Best planted in at least 6 hours of full sun for the most and best blooms. But will tolerate all day filtered shade, or maybe even full shade.
