An early population found tucked away in a clearing amongst aspen groves. Growing next to and out of rocks, spreading slowly into a low groundcover. Best used for increasing biodiversity and the amount of early season flowers for pollinators. A valuable plant for bumblebees in the early Spring.
Enjoys sunny, rocky hillsides in scattered populations across the foothills of the West. These bloomed early for the species, on a East facing hill around 7,500 ft. in Wasatch County. Growing in mountain shrub community on the edge of aspen forest with astragalus, opuntia, and viola.

Wild or Homegrown: Wild
Germination: 60-90 days cold-moist(33-37°) stratification, then sow on the surface or up to 1/8" deep and cover with a thin layer of sand. OR sow outdoors in late Fall or Winter in a weed free bed.
